Background
As MacBook Air designs became thinner, the power port was upgraded to MagSafe 2. This adapter features an integrated cable design with a flatter T-style magnetic connector (MagSafe 2). It was the standard accessory for MacBook Air models from 2012 to 2017 and is not compatible with earlier MagSafe 1 ports.
