Apple Cinema Display

Vista Point

1999.9

Background

Released in September 1999, parallel to the Power Macintosh G4, the Apple Cinema Display was the largest flat-panel display on the market. Unlike tube displays it offered a huge viewable area, but only required a very small space on the desktop. In July 2000 the Cinema Display was upgraded and equipped with the new Apple Display Connector (ADC). In March 2002 Apple released the 23" Apple Cinema HD display which supported a maximum resolution of 1920 by 1200 pixels. The smaller Apple Cinema Display remained available.
