Background
Introduced in 2009 as an upgrade to the iPhone Stereo Headset, adding dedicated volume up/down buttons to the inline remote. They were bundled with the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and third-generation iPod touch, and sold separately for $29 (order number MB770G/B). A microphone-less variant shipped only with the third-generation iPod shuffle. They were superseded by EarPods in 2012.
