Background

Introduced in May 2011, the iMac (Mid 2011) models improved on the previous iMac (Mid 2010) line, adding quad-core processors across the line. The iMac (Mid 2011) were also the first desktop Macs to include the new high-speed Thunderbolt I/O port. The iMac (Mid 2011 ) shipped in four configurations: 21.5"/2.5 GHz/4 GB RAM/500 GB HD/512 VRAM/$1199 U.S., 21.5"/2.7 GHz/4 GB RAM/1 TB HD/512 MB VRAM/$1499 U.S., 27"/2.7 GHz/4 GB RAM/1 TB HD/512 MB VRAM/$1699 U.S., 27"/3.1 GHz/4 GB RAM/1 TB HD/1 GB VRAM/$1999 U.S. Built-to-order options included up to 16 GB of RAM, 2.8 GHz or 3.4 GHz quad-core Core i7 processors, a 2 TB hard drive, a 256 GB SSD, and 2GB of VRAM.
