MessagePad 130

1996.04Newton OS 2.0(English,German)

Background

It took Apple over a year to upgrade the original Newton. The main reason was that the Newton team had worked hard for over 6 years and after the devastating press of the original Message Pad morale was low. The first revisions were Newton Message Pad 100 and 110. While the MP 100 was basically the original Message Pad with a new ROM, the MP 110 had a new design with a smaller screen and longer-lasting batteries. The Message Pad 130, released in early 1996 at CeBit in Germany, was the first Message Pad to feature an optional backlit display for better readability.
