The eMac (2005) was essentially a speed-bump of the eMac (USB 2.0). Along with a 1.42 GHz G4 processor, it increased baseline memory and the high-end model included a faster dual-layer SuperDrive, with both models receiving larger hard drives and faster graphics. The low-end model offered an 80 GB hard drive, 256 MB of RAM, and a Combo drive for $799, while the high-end offered a 160 GB hard drive, 512 MB of RAM, and a dual-layer SuperDrive for $999.

The eMac was further improved in October 2003, with the 800 MHz model discontinued and the 1 GHz model price reduced, alongside a lower price for the high-end 1 GHz model equipped with a SuperDrive. It was one of the least expensive computers from a tier-1 manufacturer to burn DVDs at the time and the last eMac revision capable of running Mac OS 9 natively, making it the last Macintosh model Apple retained this capability for.

The eMac brought a G4 processor and a 17-inch display to the classic iMac form factor. Initially intended for education users only, it came in two configurations: a 32x CD-ROM model for $999 and a CD-RW/DVD-ROM Combo model for $1199. Available to the consumer market in June 2002, it was speed-bumped and upgraded in August, making a Combo drive standard on the $999 model and adding an 800 MHz model with a 60 GB hard drive and SuperDrive for $1499.
