This model restored the clickable volume and track controls from the first two generations, with a control pad 18% larger than that of the second-generation iPod shuffle. It measures 29 x 31.6 x 8.7 mm and weighs 12.5 grams. It continues the VoiceOver feature of the third generation, now supporting 29 languages, as well as Genius and multiple playlists. Like its predecessor, it supports MP3, VBR, AAC, Protected AAC, Audible (formats 2, 3, and 4), WAV, AIFF, and Apple Lossless, with up to 15 hours of music playback on a single charge. It was initially available in Silver (with a black control pad), Blue, Green, Orange, and Pink (with white control pads). On September 12, 2012, Apple introduced a new iPod lineup alongside the iPhone 5; the iPod shuffle remained unchanged except for seven new color options: Silver or Black with a black control pad, Green, Blue, Pink, Yellow, Purple, and a (PRODUCT)RED version with a white control pad. Unlike the second generation, it does not include a dock, providing only a 45 mm USB cable. The included earphones lack a remote, but the device supports earphones with remotes. On September 10, 2013, "Slate" was replaced by "Space Gray" to match the iPhone 5s release. On July 15, 2015, Apple introduced six new colors (Blue, Pink, Silver, Gold, Space Gray, and (PRODUCT)RED). On July 27, 2017, Apple discontinued the iPod shuffle, ending the product line along with the iPod nano. | ||
