Released in July 2000, the Power Mac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet) added dual-processor capability to the G4 line. Available with a single 400 MHz G4, or dual 450 or 500 MHz G4. It also included onboard 1000Base-T Ethernet, an industry first as standard equipment. Three configurations were sold: 400 MHz single for $1599, 450 MHz dual for $2499, and 500 MHz dual for $3499 with DVD-RAM. All included the new Apple Display Connector (ADC) for power, video, and USB over a single cable.

The Power Mac G4 (AGP Graphics) was a major architecture shift, introducing AGP graphics, AirPort, and a 100 MHz bus. Due to Motorola chip shortages and errata, initial speeds were downgraded by 50 MHz shortly after launch. It finally settled on 400, 450, and 500 MHz models with ADC monitors support.

Launched alongside the AGP model, the G4 (PCI Graphics) used the older G3 Blue & White logic board with the new G4 7400 chip. It debuted the 'Graphite' color. Like its AGP sibling, it suffered from speed downgrades due to launch chip shortages.

The Blue & White G3 introduced the 'easy-open' El Capitan case and was the first Mac with FireWire and standard USB. In a bold move, it dropped legacy ports like SCSI and floppy in favor of Ultra ATA. It offered configurations up to 450 MHz.
